About Literacy Bitterroot

Mission Statement

The mission of Literacy Bitterroot is to provide free, confidential instruction to enable Ravalli County adults to become literate or complete their high school equivalency diploma so they can succeed as workers, parents, and citizens.

Funding

Literacy Bitterroot is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c3) nonprofit corporation. It is funded by federal grants, grants from private foundations, and donations from private individuals. For a copy of Literacy Bitterroot's annual director's report please call (406) 363-2900.

Literacy Bitterroot also has an endowment fund. Thanks to a generous $40,000 donation in December 2007 from Bitterroot locals Rob and Terry Ryan, Literacy Bitterroot's endowment fund now tops $100,000, allowing Literacy Bitterroot for the first time in its history to begin using endowment fund income to help finance yearly operating expenses and capital purchases. This new annual source of revenue for Literacy Bitterroot marks an exciting new phase for Literacy Bitterroot services.
