An orientation to these services is offered to potential students every Monday at 9 am at Literacy Bitterroot in conjunction with our GED orientation (see information below). The orientation is open to the public — no appointment is necessary, walk-ins are welcome.
Following the orientation, a comprehensive assessment test (called the TABE — Test of Adult Basic Education) is given to evaluate students' reading, math, and language levels. Testing generally lasts from about 9:30 am to 12:30 pm with a half hour given for lunch.
Once the testing is completed and the assessment is scored by computer, a personal interview is conducted with each student to discuss assessment test results and to select the most suitable Literacy Bitterroot class. Personal interviews are conducted between 12:30 - 1:30 or by appointment. Note: skills improvement classes are held in conjunction with Literacy Bitterroot's GED classes, see GED class schedule below for specific locations, days, and times.
